Digitech GNX2
Guitar Player, Get Ready For This!
MachineSoul says: I've been using Digitech units since 1999. I play pop, rock and heavy metal. What I like about his unit is
the fact that I could turn off effects, Delay, Stompbox and switch amplifiers, without cahngijng patches,
thereby avoiding the annoying cutting-out of the guitar signal between switching. It was USD 447/-.
I thought it was a pretty good deal. Even if I only used the tuner, delay and chorus effects, it was worth it.
I spent a couple of hours reprogramming the presets for rehearsal in day one after getting it from a music store here
and I was ready coz the manual does help alot ( I think I mentioned that I'a regular with Digitech stuff).
Most of the time I spent programming
in the distortion.
Then came the day for the gig. I went in, hooked it up to the my Jackson DK2.
And it sounded awesome! I am exetremely pleased with the pedal board.
What I really like is the changes the output characteristics.
I dialed in the "Gtr input, 2x12", plugged into the amp - I got great sound. I like the realtime control of the effects,
delay, stompbox and amp switching. As well as the extensive programming of the expression pedal, that can be linked
to numerous parameters of the effects.
Also one really cool feature is the V-switch on the Exprerssion pedal. If you use the V-switch,
it will turn the pedal into a wah, amazing isn't it?
Also, It would be cool if the V-switch could be programmed also. So you could have a volume pedal,
that can be switched to some other pre-programmed parameter. Overall, i have no complaints - this unit is worth it!
James Heart says: I've had Digitech's GNX-2 for about two years now. I purchased it from a store near my place for about $450
(although I understand they are now offering an even better deal on it, hahaha). I previously had an SGX-2000
rack unit which I've had for almost a decade, but now I wanted to get something more current and hip, after doing
some comparisons with the POD and others, I decided this was the best product.
Let me explain why; this unit is very customizable. Some may want something with less features but
this unit lets you do most anything. You have to be good at tweaking or at least willing to read the manual and
do some homework. Trust me, you can almost get any sound you want out of it. The pedal and preset footswitches
all are very intuitive and convenient, the height is just fine. Finally, with its included software, you can share
created presets via the internet - great!
Durability; it's a solid unit - well built. Steel, except for footswitches, although even they seem solid.
I ever drop this unit few times from the table when my wife was cleaning the carpet and the durability is undisputed!
This is definitely the right choice for the price I paid for - no regrets!
